Accessibility Services — Inclusive, Compliant, Future-Ready
At Fusio, we build digital experiences that work for everyone — including people with disabilities — by applying best-practice accessibility design, development, testing, and ongoing support.
Web accessibility isn’t just good practice: it’s now a legal requirement in Ireland and across the EU for many businesses. From 28 June 2025, the European Accessibility Act has been implemented into Irish law, requiring organisations to ensure that their digital products and services — including websites and web applications — are accessible to users with disabilities.
What is Web Accessibility?
Web accessibility means designing and developing digital content that can be perceived, operated, understood, and accessed reliably by all people — including those with visual, auditory, cognitive, motor, or neurological impairments. Accessibility ensures that everyone can:
- Navigate your site with a keyboard or assistive devices,
- Read and interpret information regardless of ability,
- Interact with forms, menus, and media content, and
- Use functionality just as effectively as any other visitor.
This work aligns with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) — the global standard developed by the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) — most commonly to WCAG 2.2 Level AA or higher.
Why Accessibility Matters
Legal compliance: The European Accessibility Act now applies to many digital services in Ireland, meaning accessibility is not optional for organisations in scope. Businesses can risk enforcement action and penalties if they fail to meet the legal requirements or provide accessibility statements as required by law.
Broader audience reach: Accessible websites are easier to use for all visitors — not just those with disabilities — improving engagement, search performance, conversions, and user satisfaction.
Better user experience: Clear structure, readable text, properly labelled elements, and smooth keyboard navigation make your site more usable and intuitive for everyone.
Our Accessibility Services
Accessibility Audits & Testing
We perform detailed accessibility audits, combining automated tools with manual testing — including real assistive technology evaluations — to detect barriers and verify compliance with WCAG standards.
- Automated scanning for common issues
- Manual review with assistive technologies
- Detailed findings with prioritised recommended fixes
Inclusive UX & Accessible Design
We design interfaces that are accessible by design, including:
- Semantic HTML and ARIA roles for screen readers
- Colour contrast and typography that works for low-vision users
- Logical, predictable navigation and interactive elements
Development & Remediation
Our development team implements accessibility improvements directly into your codebase:
- Keyboard-accessible forms, menus, and navigation
- Text alternatives on images and non-text content
- ARIA enhancements where needed for rich interactions
Accessibility Statement & Reporting
We help prepare your public accessibility statement — a requirement under the EU Accessibility Act — detailing how your site meets relevant accessibility standards, how users can get support, and your ongoing commitment to accessibility.
Ongoing Monitoring & Support
Accessibility isn’t a one-off task. We support ongoing monitoring, regression testing, and compliance maintenance to ensure your site remains accessible as it evolves.
Standards & Compliance We Follow
We build and test to the current WCAG standards endorsed by W3C’s WAI, ensuring:
✔ Perceivable content (e.g. alt text, captions)
✔ Operable interfaces (e.g. keyboard navigation)
✔ Understandable information (clear language, predictable interaction)
✔ Robust compatibility with assistive technologies
✔ Alignment with Irish and EU regulatory requirements
These principles help create digital experiences that are inclusive, compliant, and optimised for all users and devices.
